Flooded Carpets? Here’s What You Should Do
November 22, 2021We’re Open for Business During the Holidays – Rain, Shine or Lockdown!
December 20, 2021With the winter weather setting in and the days getting shorter and shorter, chances are you and your family are spending a lot more time indoors. Unfortunately, this increased time spent indoors often means more messy spills and accidents on carpets. At Premier Carpet Cleaning we highly recommend bringing in a professional cleaner to remove tough stains in your carpets and upholstery.
We know bringing in a professional cleaner isn’t always possible right away. That’s why we’ve created this list of instructions to help you hide or conceal stains in your carpets and upholstery to tide you over until the carpet cleaners arrive.
1. Move a piece of furniture over the stain. Naturally, this depends on the location of the stain in the room. If it makes sense and can be done without too much hassle, a strategically placed chair can hide a nasty stain. At least you will have peace of mind without it staring you (or anyone else) in the face.
2. Carefully hide the stain with an arrangement of potted plants. When a piece of furniture won’t do, a plant or three may do the trick. Not only do plants add a natural vibe to any room, but they can hide an unsightly mark until a professional carpet cleaner arrives to make that stain go away! A clever grouping of plants is the perfect ‘hiding spot’.
3. If the spot occurs in the middle of a room, place an area rug over an already dried-on stain. Visitors’ eyes will be drawn to a beautifully patterned area carpet instead of someone’s mishap. This trick works in a variety of different rooms, including a hallway subject to heavy foot traffic.
4. Another temporary solution is to close off a room with an embarrassing carpet stain and keep it inaccessible to guests. You can keep visitors out until help comes. No need to worry or stress when company calls! Ask everyone to use a different entrance to avoid seeing a ghastly mark.
5. In the case of a superficial surface stain, you may be okay to apply warm soapy water. Just make sure the cloth is damp, not soaked, and you may be able to lift the entire stain with repetitive blotting. Too much moisture could cause further damage to delicate carpet fibres. And so, it may be best to use one of the other options. An expert carpet cleaner can perform a deep cleaning afterward.
